The mission of Asian Film Festival focuses on Asian culture and identity, heritage, community and experience through the filmmakers’ lens. We aim to create a platform to promote and uplift the wide range of voices in the Asian community throughout the world, with a day of celebrating of film screening, Asian cultural celebrating, panel discussion, Q&A sessions with filmmakers from a variety of cultural background, and an award ceremony.

Sunil Sadarangani

Sunil Sadarangani

Sunil Sadarangani is an award-winning producer who has worked in international film and TV projects for over 15 years. He co-founded the Ojai Short Film Festival, and programmed films focusing on South Asian filmmakers, and included Oscar-nominated and winning works. Sunil has served on the L.A. Greek Film Festival short and documentary jury in 2019 and 2023. He was on the programming committees of Outfest and the Indian Film Festival of L. A. and is a member of the Programmers of Colour Collective. Sunil is also a contributing writer at Deadline, New York Amsterdam News, and American Kahani.

Tenky TIN Kai-man

Tenky TIN Kai-man

Tenky TIN Kai-man, Tenky Tin, a senior and experienced film producer from Hong Kong, China. Engaged in the film industry since 1979, working from behind the scene as production crew to being on screen as actor, participated in productions of more than 400 films. He was previously responsible for the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers as the Chair-person, board member of the Hong Kong Film Award Association. And now working as a consultant of the Hong Kong Film development as well as the consultant and member of the film and media team of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Shani Rigsbee

Shani Rigsbee

Shani Rigsbee is part of a rare power pack of American stars that are equally fluent both on stage, recordings and on screen. A multi-award winning Artist, her credits as a Singer, Composer and Producer appear in major motion pictures and she has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious venues. She also served as Producer of the 2008Presidential Inaugural Purple Ball’s show in Washington D.C with Performances with IL DIVO. An avid Animal Welfare advocate and committed to those must vulnerable, she is the Founder and President of a Non Profit organization, Voices Out, which gives voice and aid to children and animals in abusive, neglectful and abandoned conditions.

Nancy Hamilton

Nancy Hamilton

Nancy Hamilton is the founder and co-owner of Golden Eagle Films, a 501 c3 non-profit Christian organization situated in Pacific Grove, California. She also works as the Producer/ Director for Sierra Health and Wellness Centers in California. Nancy holds a Master of Science Degree in Digital Media from the University of Edinburgh and is a Doctoral, PhD candidate with Liberty University. Nancy has produced digital media professionally for over 20 years and has won over 65 International film awards.

Yu Liang

Yu Liang

Yu Liang is Executive Secretary-General of Actor Work Committee of Beijing Television Artists Association; member of China Television; Organized, planned and implemented the Asian Influence Ceremony; International Student Micro Film Festival, China Zhenjiang International Documentary Ceremony, China•Yangzhou “Canal Breeze” Micro Film Competition; Served as a judge for the 36th Popular Film Hundred Flowers Awards; Judge of Beijing Language and Culture University’s First Public Service Advertisement Competition.

Kagan Okudan

Kagan Okudan

Kagan Okudan is an accomplished professional in the creative field, with expertise in Art Direction, CGI, Lighting, and Cinematography. His career spans various projects in tech, media and entertainment, where he is celebrated for his innovative visual storytelling and technical proficiency. Dedicated to nurturing talent, Kagan actively mentors aspiring artists and filmmakers. Beyond his professional pursuits, he is passionate about history and photography, constantly seeking new inspirations and perspectives.

Andrés Gallegos

Andrés Gallegos

Andrés Gallegos is a Chilean filmmaker & cinematographer. “From Mexico to Vietnam, a Chicano story”, his directorial feature documentary debut, premiered at Riverside International Film Festival and received the Audience Award for Best Documentary. He received the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival Best Short Documentary Award for “Guy Hircefeld, a guy with a camera”, this film became an Academy Award qualifier in 2019. Gallegos earned a BA in Filmmaking from UNIACC; and an MFA in Cinema from SFSU.

KK

KK

KK is a graduate both of the Shanghai Theater Academy and NewYork Film Academy. He is a film director and screenwriter. His directorial credits include The Wondering Earth Il France Unit, Producer, Director; The Wondering Earth I (the best-known Chinese science fiction film), Next Top Star, and My Time for Hong Kong.

Truong Ngoc Anh

Truong Ngoc Anh

Truong Ngoc Anh is an actress, producer, model, singer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist and one of the most acclaimed actresses and iconic person in Vietnam. Her acting and producing credits including Hong Ga – Rise, This is My Life, Pearls of the Far East, The White Silk Dress and so forth. She is the Juror for Asian Film Festival.

Shanshan Whittall

Shanshan Whittall

Shanshan Whittall is the founder and Chair of Asian Film Festival. She was a PJIFF board member and has been working closely with PJIFF director Mattock Scariot to ensure diversity in the PJIFF program -Chinese Filmmakers Showcase (China Day) since 2019. Four years later, after organizing the Chinese Filmmakers Showcase both in person and online from promoting, collecting, programming, to organizing and executive a day event with a variety of programs, Mattie and Shanshan have decided to extend the focus to Asian culture. We are very excited to announce that we will officially launch 2024 Asian Film Festival on May 19, 2024 at DDTV Santa Clara Studio.

Along with the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival global online film festival launching, China Day has released its day program of two recorded online panel discussions with professional filmmakers, which including but not limited to director, producer, distributor, investor from U.S. and Chinese filmmaking industry; the topics including the filmmaking challenges during pandemic, the future filmmaking transition after pandemic, the film distribution in China and U.S.; StageOne Creative Space sponsored the live recording of Chinese culture presentation of performances such as Chinese opera and Qipao fashion show, Chinese opera performance, and Chinese classical youth dance. The well recognized Chinese classic music instrument group ZiDe GuQin Studio and Jieyinwu, frequent harpist for the acclaimed San Francisco Symphony permitted CFS to livestream their performances. With the official launch of Poppy Jasper International Film Festival global online livestream film festival in 2021, China Day was reached to over 20 countries in the world and 20 states in the U.S.

China Day was resumed at DDTV in person. We screened four blocks of short films and one block of feature; and conducted a live panel discussion with filmmakers.

Chinese Filmmakers Showcase (China Day), was hosted at Q Bay Center. We celebrated Asian culture by putting together a day program with Art show, Fashion Show, Film Screening, Q&A with filmmakers and Panel Discussion with filmmakers from Hollywood, and an award ceremony.

Asian Film Festival
We have received films from U.S. China, Iran, Japan, Korea and look forward to celebrating Asian culture and meeting talented filmmakers throughout the world.
